Do you love Nutella but don’t love the sugar and additives that come along with it? Then this recipe is for you! It’s so delicious and just 5 ingredients! You’ll never want store-bought again!
Raise your hand if you don’t like Nutella. No one? Okay cool, let’s keep going.
This recipe was created for my husband. He LOVES Nutella, but since we started trying to eat more natural, whole foods a couple of years ago, we stopped buying it. Plus, he would eat it at an alarmingly fast rate – there was none left for me! We were at Pinkberry last week, and both ordered the chocolate hazelnut frozen yogurt. Of course we were hit with memories of Nutella and how amazing it is. Last weekend I experimented a bit in the kitchen and the end-result was this super simple, five ingredient chocolate hazelnut spread!
This recipe is so simple! I always say that if I can do it, you can too. The first thing you’ll need to do is roast the hazelnuts in the oven. Once that’s done, shake the nuts around in a paper towel and the shells will slip right off. You can keep the shells on (I couldn’t get them all off), but the spread will end up being a little bit grainier.
After that, it’s smooth sailing! All you need to do is place everything in a food processor, mix mix mix, and you’re done! Let it sit in the fridge for a couple of hours, and it’ll reach a thicker consistency.
- 2 cups hazelnuts
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp Truvia
- Preheat oven to 375F
- Roast hazelnuts for 10-12 minutes (watch closely that they don't burn!)
- Let hazelnuts cool, and then place in food processor along with melted chocolate chips, vanilla extract, coconut oil and Truvia
- Blend until smooth, place in a mason jar and let cool in fridge for a few hours
